EXERCISE 1 : Translate into Swahili :

  1. Ninapenda, Ninaandika, ninatoka, unavunja, analia, wanachora, wanatoka, tunafanya kazi, anafagia, mnalima, anaruka, tunacheza, unasafisha, mnangoja, mnasoma.

  2. Mtoto anacheza, mtoto mdogo analia, wanaume wanakula, wanawake wanasafisha, mwalimu anafanya kazi, wanafunzi wanaingia, dereva anangoja, vijana wanarudi, wazazi wangu wanasafiri, watoto wangu wanasoma, baba anafanya kazi, rafiki wanakuja, mlevi anakunywa, waashi wanafanya kazi, mvuvi anarudi.

  3. Sichezi, hachori, hatujaribu, hamji, hawakai, sijui, hunywi, hafanyi kazi, hatwendi, humjibu, hawapiki, sisafiri, husikii, halali, haifai.


EXERCISE 2 : Translate into English :

  1. He / she arrives, you're coming, they're hitting, we're rejoicing, you're travelling, it fits, they're trying, he stays, I change, we're cleaning, you're cooking, you're staying, he / she's following, we're waiting, I buy.

  2. I don't know, I don't think, I don't say, you don't know, you don't answer, you don't learn / you don't read, he / she doesn't hear, he / she doesn't come back, he / she doesn't travel, we don't enter, we don't succeed, you don't go, they aren't eating, they aren't drinking, they don't do.


EXERCISE 3 : Translate into English :


  1. You are Tanzanian.
  2. You speak Swahili.
  3. But you don't speak English.
  4. The child likes to play a lot.
  5. Father and Mother are travelling today.
  6. The pupil is trying to read.
  7. The day laborers aren't working today.
  8. My parents live in Zanzibar.
  9. Try to speak Swahili !
  10. I am English. I don't know Swahili much.
