EXERCICE 1 : Translate into Swahili :
Mahindi, mafuta, maji, maembe, malimau, mayai, machungwa, mapapai , maziwa, debe, gunia, jembe, magazeti, shoka, magari, duka, soko, mafundi, mawaziri, makarani.
Ninakunywa maji, ninakula mahindi, anachukua papai, anauza mafuta, nunua machungwa ! Chukua mablanketi ! Usisahau gazeti ! Kunywa maziwa lako ! Wanafanya kazi shambani, wanacheza barazani, anakula jikoni, angalia joka ! Pika mayai ! Kata nanasi ! Sema jina lako !
EXERCISE 2 : Translate into English :
A president, an aunt, clerks, the knees, the stomach, the ears, words, thoughts, at the market, at the farm, in the bush, grass, a blanket, a window, a hoe, an eye, a tooth, a name, in the kitchen, mistakes.
The prime minister, good milk, a new mattress, a yellow blanket, a long bridge, a fierce sun, lengthy conversations, small pawpaws, a rotten lemon, a few eggs, lots of corn, malicious insults, a severe grand-mother, a good craftsman, a big veranda, (It's) your advice, my name, my thoughts, a long big snake, unripe oranges.
EXERCISE 3 : Translate into English :
- Go to the shop to buy milk !
- Mother goes to the kitchen to prepare the food.
- The children like to eat unripe mangoes.
- The carpenters are working on the veranda.
- Today at the market, the oranges were more expensive than the mangoes.
- I need a clean blanket and a new mattress.
- The women are selling eggs and oil at the market.
- "Cinderella" does a lot of dirty work.
- Drink pure water only, don't drink dirty water !
- I'm afraid of the venimous big snake in the bush !
