Chapter 19 - Key to Exercises



EXERCISE 1 : Translate into Swahili :

  1. Ghafula, pamoja, labda / pengine, tu, zaidi, mno, hasa, kweli, haraka / upesi, bure, tena, sana, hata kidogo, peke yake, moja moja, kwa bahati, kwa kusudi, kwa kifupi, hivyo, vivyo.

  2. Anasema kipumbavu, anaondoka ghafula, twafaya kazi kwa kutwa, wanapiga kichenzi, mzigo huu ni mzito sana, huu ni mzito mno, kifaru anakuja tena, fanya haraka ! Bwana anarudi labda leo, kitoto anakula pole pole, mwanafunzi huyu anasoma taratibu, nina mtoto mmoja tu, nimechoka kabisa, wageni wamechelewa kidogo, Hizo ni habari kwa kifupi.


EXERCISE 2 : Translate into English :

Slowly, equally, differently, similarly, in that way, in the same way, maybe, perhaps, sure, (not) at all, really, in vain, anyhow, together, alone, especially, like a white man, like an animal, a little, usually.


EXERCISE 3 : Translate into English :

  1. I say, food is ready ? - In a little while, sir.
  2. Don't speak quickly, speak slowly.
  3. He doesn't say anything at all.
  4. Fortunately, I have seen one rhinoceros in the bush.
  5. Usually our cook is late for work.
  6. Dust this bedroom, and that one too.
  7. Don't close the door suddenly, please.
  8. The child has thrown that stone on purpose.
  9. The children are standing up like soldiers.
  10. That car is too expensive.
  11. Really, this mosquito net is completely convenient.
  12. I've lost my comb again.
